In February 2011, one CuteKid from California, Brisa Lalich, stood out to our judges the most, winning the monthly contest and then went on to win the CuteKid of the Year Award.
We decided to catch up with her to see what she’s been up to in these eight years since winning the award, which included a $25,000 college tuition fund, a photoshoot, a private tour of Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, a signed contract with Envy Model Management, and so much more.
Are you still active in the industry?
“I am a Sophomore in high school and am really focused on my academics and athletics but I still do a few photoshoots and was cast in and filmed the movie To The Beat in 2017 which was released on Amazon and iTunes last year and is currently on Netflix. So, I hope you will check it out as I play Mia, one of the main characters in the film. We are fortunate to be planning the sequel To The Beat! Back 2 School which is currently targeting filming later this year.”
What was your most memorable part of becoming the CuteKid of the Year?
“It was a huge surprise and my family and I had no idea what to expect with getting my first agent. The trip to Hollywood with the CuteKid team was an unforgettable trip and experience.”
Did winning the CuteKid contest build more self-confidence?
“Absolutely it helped with my self-confidence as did going on multiple auditions and booking my first few modeling jobs! A few years later I added new commercial and theatrical agents and a manager.
Have you had any big successes since becoming the CuteKid of the year?
“In addition to my movie experiences above, I have been in a few short films, music videos and did commercials for Verizon, Bendastix, Orbeez and others. I did print work/modeling jobs for many amazing companies including: Chase, Nike, Tillys, ALDI, Skechers, 7 For All Mankind, Zappos, Ralph Lauren, Sports Authority, Malibu Sugar, Target, Verizon and more.”
Do you have any upcoming modeling/acting goals?
“Besides my movies, I have been on hold with my agent/manager as I have wanted to focus on high school classes and swimming and cheerleading and didn’t want to miss any school.”
How do you plan to use the college fund?
“Absolutely plan on using the amazing college fund to help me start my college career on a pre-medicine path as I would love to go to medical school and be a pediatrician.”
What is your advice to parents who are interested in entering their child into the CuteKid?
“The best part of the acting and modeling career has been the friendships I have made along the way. It’s a huge commitment however and a lot of work with a lot of competition in the modeling/acting industry.”
“The CuteKid really was an unbelievable jump start for my career as I had never done any acting or modeling before winning the award in 2011.”
